The Murder of Roger Akroyd, because you are so shocked by the ending and finding out who done it.

"And Then There Were None"
It's my favorite because one by one the characters die, and gradually realise that the killer is amongst them. By the end, the story has become a locked room mystery, with all the characters dead and the police left with ten unsolved murders.
I kept picking the wrong person as the murderer.

By the Pricking of My Thumbs
It was the first book I ever read of hers, and that hooked me! I love her characters and the way she tells a story! And love the challenge of trying to guess who 'did it'.
