It was a tough week for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in the Middle East. Editorial: Purposeless Visit
9 October 2006

SO little was there to discuss during the Mideast visit of Condoleezza Rice and so little analysis after the fact, that people have been wondering why she embarked on the visit in the first place. By all accounts, the US secretary of state had no fresh ideas to offer to revive what used to be called the Middle East peace process. Aides on all sides had played down the prospects of any progress; it seems they were right.
Diplomatic isolation, the freezing of funds, the arrest of its ministers, and even deadly gun battles between Fatah and Hamas in Gaza have not led Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and his colleagues to change their stances stating that it would not be pushed from power or recognize Israel

Hi Roadkill, well, one man's terrorist is another man's friend. or was it poison and food? It was not really very much of a surprise when the electors voted for those that had been "defending" them against the occupying Israelis. You would do the same I think, vote for those that stood up and were unafraid to die in a cause for your home and land. Now the fact that Israel and the US call them terrorists is also not a surprise. Do you think CIA funding and arming of Kurds in Iraq to topple Saddam was terrorism? Is the arming of the other faction in Gaza to subvert the leection results, terrorism? Look up the definition of terrorism. Only the powerful call the shots and choose the labels, right?

They don't want peace. So I do hope they get justice. That is what they deserve for electing terrorist government.
