Get them the flaked fish food, pellets sink fast to the bottom. Fish tend to like the flaked food because it floats on the water surface.

Can't??? Unless they are too big. He's just being picky. Most store bought bettas are use to either flakes or pellets. He should readily eat one or the other. In fact if you let him go hungry he'll try the pellets. Just remember flake or pellet it sound have the following to be good betta food:
1)Be made mostly of worm/shrimp/fish
2)float
3)be fairly small

As for worms I don't recommend live or frozen worms as they can carry diease. (Plus they are nasty, and a pain to store.) Freeze dried blood worms are sanitary, and have a very low ick factor. Also freeze dried brine shrimp is great as well. Note that a diet of just brine shrimp, or blood worms is bad. Switching between the 2, or using one with a flake or pellet is best.

PS- Read betta talk, and be sure not to over feed.

I have a betta and he eats flakes and frozen shrimp. You just buy it at the pet store and give him about a quarter of the cube per day. He'll have no problem eating it and it's not yucky or messy.

Bettas are picky eaters, but they are smart and wont starve when food is present. keep trying your pellets and blood worms, he'll eat it eventually. Just take out any uneaten food, or clean his bowl often.

What TayLee said. Ditto.

Oh yeah- be very careful not to overfeed him- it is easy to kill a betta by overfeeding.
