Utopia is described to an ideal town/city/state/planet/(if possible, the galaxy!). Some think having a Utopian society will be a peaceful and relaxing environment, whilst some feel it is impossible to achieve due to constant wars and diseases.

Nirvana is what is believed by Buddhist. They believe by doing good deeds in life, you can break through the cycle of rebirth and live with the end of suffering. This is different from Utopia because you are free from the world we live on. Utopia is reality, Nirvana is Spiritual.

Hope this brief guide helps! :)

Utopia is a philosopically ideal notion of what would be the best social politioal environment. Nirvana has no worldly connotations and is an ideal state of mind which is necessay to acheive before one can obtain real enlightment.

Hence utopia is an external hope for a qualitative socity while nirvana is the internalized peace of mind to cope rationally with the world as it is.

Utopia', in its most common and general positive meaning, refers to an imaginary, ideal civilization, which may range from a city to a world, and may be regarded as possible in the future, although not currently existant.
Human efforts to create a better, or perhaps perfect society are called utopianism. Ideas which could be/are considered able to radically change our world are often called utopian ideas.
Nirvana means, literally "extinction" and/or "extinguishing" (ie, of the passions) is a mode of being that is free from mind-contaminants (Kilesa) such as lust, anger or craving. It is thus a state of great inner peace and contentment - the end of suffering, or Dukkha. The Buddha in the Dhammapada says of Nirvana that it is 'the highest happiness'. This is not the transitory, sense-based happiness of everyday life, but rather an enduring, transcendental happiness integral to the calmness attained through enlightenment.

Don't really have a clue without research, but,,,, Utopia could be a place (not in this world) and Nirvana a state of being. I think they are linked in my mind.

Off the top of my head I think Nirvana is your own spiritual paradise whereas utopia is a more global place of peace and tranquility. Could be wrong though.
