pay cash = no problems

pay bill on time = no late fees

really simple equation.

You wouldn't do your job for free, because you are offering a service to your employer. If he didn't pay you on time you would be annoyed and feel like you were owed something, maybe even be compensated for your patience. Same situation. The credit company's are offering you a service (money up front) and are expecting to be compensated for this service. When they are not paid on time, you are required to be held accountable and make up for your irresponsibility.

Sorry my friends, that just life.

Regarding movie rentals, you're paying to rent an item for a certain amount of time. If you keep that item for more than that amount of time, you're exceeding your contract. You SHOULD pay late fees.

Regarding payment of loans and bills, you initially enter a contract saying you will pay for services rendered within a given period of time. If you don't do that, you should pay.

Quit being lazy and you won't be "extorted."

Isn't it strange that people with money always land up paying less than people who are struggling?

You kids whose parents do all the struggling have very smug answers. What about basic bills that people need to pay but have limited income? You will change your mind soon enough if you go out on your own.
