Former Neath full-back Thorburn won 37 caps for Wales between 1985 and 1991, captaining his country 10 times and scoring a then-record 304 points. He will forever be remembered for the monster penalty he landed from the incredible distance of 70 yards, 8 inches against Scotland at Cardiff Arms Park in 1986. It still stands as the longest goal-kick in the history of the game and it's always been seen as a record that's likely to remain unsurpassed
Dont know if this one below counts
Jonny Wilkinson might be the name on everyone's lips in English rugby, acclaimed as the greatest goal-kicker in the world, but we should not forget Ernie Cooper and the massive kick which secured him a place in the record books.
Sixty years ago yesterday, Cooper landed an 81-yard penalty for Bridlington School's first XV against an Army XV, the longest successful authenticated penalty kick in history.

Johnny Wilkinson is not the Greatest Kicker...Neil Jenkins is.
Neil holds the international points scoring record.
I don't understand on what grounds JW is the greatest kicker.
Sky TV hype maybe?
Paul Thorburn has the record, but Barry Davies of the scarlets has been known to take them from inside his own 22, in training.
