The orignal pads have a spring like clamp on both pads, the new ones have a lip that makes it impossible to fit properly. Have changed pads b4 but this new style has me baffled as to fitting it.

If they don't fit, they are not the right pads. Don't tear them up, exchange them for the correct pads. If your supplier insists they are right, get your money back and go somewhere else get the proper pads.

this has happened to me -some models use the same pad but the clips or springs are different-take them back to the parts store along with one of your old pads-theyll fix ya right up-hope this helps-sometimes they just mix the boxes up-theyll give ya the right ones

Many Chrysler products have little springs clips that are used to
make sure the pad is not loose when it is installed and they are
commonly refered to as Anti-rattle clips..
