any type of birth control can make you gain wieght. I've been on several different types.. To ensure that you don't and maintain a certain weight you need to make sure that you are taking care of yourself , you know like regular exercise and good eating habits. If you're involved in sports or extracurricaluar activity like dancing or cheerleading or anything like that you usually don't have too much to worry about bc you're already active.
My doctor told me when i first started on birthcontrol (8yrs ago) that some ppl tend to gain weight on all forms of birth control, but to take care of my body and i wouldn't have to worry about it. So that's what i've done and i haven't had any problems with it . I've been on it for a total of 6 1/2 yrs out of the 8 yrs. (not the same kind though) Good Luck and stop worrying yourself over it

Weight gain is a common complaint of women taking birth control pills. But research shows that most women gain little, if any weight because of the birth control pills. In general, the number of women on the pill who gain weight is equal to the number of women who lose weight. But for some women, the can be a factor in gaining weight.
The combination of hormones (estrogens and progestins) found in some birth control pills can lead to weight gain. These hormones can cause fluid retention, increased body fat, and a bigger appetite in some women. Changes in eating habits, lack of exercise, and some medical conditions can also affect body weight whether or not you take birth control pills.

Some birth control pills are less likely to cause weight gain. They include Brevicon, Necon 0.5/35, Tri-Norinyl, Triphasil, Ortho Cyclen, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and the progestin-only minipills (Micronor, Nor-QD, and Ovrette).

If you're worried about gaining weight, remember to cut back on calories and get more exercise. Talk to your health care provider about switching to another birth control pill if you think it's possible that your pill is causing weight gain.

everybody has different side effects. some people gain weight, some lose weight. i stayed about the same...gained 5 pounds tops (probably b/c i don't work out as much as i used to), but i'm small. some of my friends became very emotional when they started the pill...i stayed the same. my friends breasts got bigger...mine stayed the same (of course they already had big boobs and mine are nice and small still, haha). it cleared up my skin a bit and made my period shorter which is great. i usually don't experience side effects from many medications so it just depends on how sensitive you are to medication. hope it works well for you!

The shot will, and the pill isn't supposed to, but it made me. Depends on the person I guess. It made my sister gain a lot of weight also. Goodluck

Some say it does, some say it doesn't. If you watch what you eat and exercise regularly, you will be fine. I have been on the pill for years and never gained weight.

Not really. I gained about 3 pounds. I went on the ortho novum 777. It is one of the lowest doses. I started taking it to control my cycle.
