yeah, they do. and I think Chicago doesnt. if you have noticed, the whole NBA is becoming increasingly more European. like the Phoenix suns, they were pioneers. now the Lakers are in that style. the Pistons have adopted it. Miami has it and that why they won a title even though shaq sucks. The Mavericks have it. and so do all good teams.
the techinique is simple:
Fast paced offence,
high intensity defence
and Shooting Big men.
Detroit has Rasheed wallace, Lakers have Radmonovic and Odom, Miami has Antoine Walker, and the Mavericks have Dirk Nowitzki. on the other hand, Chicago is going old school, a style that would have won them a title until a few years ago. now, they will be good, but they wont win a title. But then again, they might if the play Nocioni at PF and start Gordon, hinreich, all at once.

Sorry, they're not winning another title for a while. Everyone here is saying they can because Big Ben sucked on offense and that Nazr will help. Hell no, this team isn't built to run offensively like the Suns or Mavs. The first reason why they won their championship back in 04 was because of Big Ben. The focus and main reason why they won it was because of their defense. They won it by being a strong defensive minded team. And Big Ben was the main defender. Without him, they won't have the same type of defensive intensity they used to have. Nazr is a decent center, but Big Ben brought defense like the old Piston Bad Boys. And they aren't made for the run and gun offense of the Suns. Sorry, but I guarentee u that they will not win a title in the next 2 years at least. What they can hope for is to sign some better center in the upcoming years or get a good rookie center who can develop fast.

Look I think the Pisons are going to be better this year than they were last year. The reason is that Big Ben is gone. Now Flip Saunders is going to open up his playbook. The only thing Ben could do on offense was dunk. Now with Nazr they have a little more freedom becuase he can hit SOME shots. He is also a bigger body. He can actually match up with a Shaq,Tim Duncan, KG and other elite big men in the league. They still have a good bench behind all of their starters. This is a strong team and they will be a force to be dealt with.

Yes, what makes a great team a great team is the ability to overcome setbacks. I beleive the Pistos can overcome this setback and have a legemite chance at the title. Ben Wallace had no offense but a lot of defense. I beleive Nazr Mohammed wil take is spot and fit in to the offense a lot better than Wallace

I personally think without Big Ben the Pistons don't have the defense to go far in the playoffs.

Not this year, I think its going to be hard for them to get used to not having ben around, and not having a good center. Hopefully they can get the younger players some time and develop them and in 2 or 3 years they can win it again.

Nope...not a chance. Their coach is about to change the entire way they played. He wants to run, and he wants to score. He's abandoning the emphasis on defense that made them contenders in the first place, and for that, he will fail, because he will find that his players aren't good enough to play that style of basketball. They will resemble the Kings or the Nuggets. You can tell they have talent, but you can also tell they won't win a championship.

The team has no actual celebrity. they could get fortunate interior the draft and get a definite hearth participant. they are going to be a 35-40 win team this 365 days, yet with the East so more suitable, i do no longer understand if which would be sufficient for the playoffs.

With this current group under Flip, not a chance. They've lost that identity they had under Larry Brown. It's over esp. with Big Ben gone.
