I do I think that A-Rods attitude affected the whole team. How do you all feel about it. Should A-Rod stay or go?

Okay I meant should Steinbrenner break A-Rods contract. That is the same as being fired.

I honestly don't see why A-rod is solely to blame and Torre is being fired.

1) A-rod, even on a down year, had a spectacular season even if his average was down. 290 Average, 35 HRs, and 121 RBIs? I'll take that any day of the week. The Yankees have the most potent batting order in the league, even with Sheffield and Matsui out you've still got Damon, Jeter, Posada, Abreu, and Giambi. Those 5 right there ought to be able to carry their own even if A-Rod has a down year or can't produce in the post season.

2) Firing Joe Torre is the biggest mistake ever, I mean for God's sake the guy has lead the Yankees to 4 (FOUR!) World Series titles in the past 10 years and has won the division for the past 9 years straight. That'd be like the Atlanta Braves firing Bobby Cox for not winning the division for the 15th straight year, absolutely rediculous.

The problem with the Yankees is they relied too much on their bats and didn't have a very deep pitching staff, I mean they have Wang and Mussina who are performing decently this season but Johnson had a definite off year and Wright has never been a great pitcher.

You can't blame the Yankees losing in 4 to the Tigers on just 2 people, especially A-Rod and Torre.

Oh well, if Torre gets fired I'll go back to fierce Yankee hating, he was the only reason why I felt some sort of indifference to the Yankees.

I understand that Choke Rod has a no trade clause in his 10 year (with 2 years remaining) quarter billion dollar contract. Yes, folks that's right, $250,000,000 for ten years. Steinbrenner could probably convince him to waive the clause and accept the trade. The receiving team would agree to pay Rodriguez his fair value, say $4-7 million, my guess. That means the Yankees would be paying $18 to $20 million of his contract. So that he could be hitting for the Padres or the Royals or someone? Does not make sense. I doubt he can ever be traded. The economics do not add up.

NO why would you fire him and have to pay part of his salary for the next couple of years

why would you not just trade him A-Rod is still really good he can just not play in New York like many good players

Firing people isn't always the answer. The Yankees have had a tough season, starting with a lackluster spring training, and going into regular season plauged by injury. They need to improve the attitude and sportsmanship of the entire team, and they need to learn to work together, for the good of the team, not just for their own personal gain. There is no "I" in "team".

y not trade him instead.
i would trade him heres y.
the yanks can make it 2 the playoffs without a-rod right.
so then what u need is someone who could deliver in the playoffs.right.
so get someone who can be good in playoffs even if his regular season sucks, cuzz the yanks will still make it 2 the playoffs.
and sign some pitching with the money like zito.

the yankees can not "break" arods contract........they can release him which means they still must pay him the full remaining amount of his contract(until another team signs him meaning then the yankees would only save the minimum salary for a veteran player each year), or they can trade him and as much of his contract as possible.
