Yes. It is important you get educated about the dynamics of living with herpes. First, see your gynecologist. S/he will probably be more familiar with this than an internist. Search the Internet and your will find much information. There is "life after herpes," it just requires education and responsibility. By different estimates, between 20 and 32% of the US population has herpes, so you are not alone. There are many support groups as well, so go and get your life back; and, at the same time, be responsible to both yourself and your partner(s). Good luck.

Yes, you can spread herpes even if you aren't having an obvious outbreak at the time you have sex.

Specifically, # 2 -
"Many people who have an outbreak of genital herpes do not have any symptoms, or have symptoms that are so mild that they are unnoticeable. That's why out of the 50 million Americans who have genital herpes, 90% don't even realize they are infected with the virus and may unknowingly infect others."

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?

But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

Yes, if you have the virus, you can pass it on at any time - it's even more likely to be passed along while you're having an outbreak. Once you have it, you have it for life.

Yes, and thankfully, there have been a lot of info-mercials on T.V. on that very thing. You should always practice safe sex - one reason being, you can pass it on. If you care at all for your new partner, or even if you don't, tell them your situation. My girlfriend got it from a guy who says he didn't even know he had it. Hey - it's the gift of love that keeps on giving. Her life has been miserable, physically, periodically, for years now.
