Oh, its a great job and I love it and am good at it but my boss looks down her nose at me. She is old school and altho' most of her mates have retired (thank God), there are enough left to sook up to her - she will never retire. Also, she never criticises them (they don't know computers) but I work hard and taught myself, and she takes a delight of pointing out any mistake I make and I can honestly say I work harder than all those old bags. HELP me to get things in to perspective. My boss is also a dyed in the wool snob.

Unfortunately that happens to the young employee because you know more and they are jealous. If you like your job then just ignore them and do your job to the best of your ability and that will only make them more angry at you. That should make you smile.LOL.

Ouch, that's really bad. I'm seventeen and don't work yet, so I'm sorry i can't exactly relate to you as such, but I do get those kind of problems at sixth form, I know it's not nice and I feel for you.

My best advice would be to do everything to the best of your ability and shine amoung your other workers.

Smile and be nice and friendly too, so your workers see how much of a great person you are as well as being hard working and good at your job. This way, your boss won't have anything to criticise, other than if he/she chooses to be petty. Then everyone at work will back you and you will be left supirior at the end of the day.

However, try to take on any "constructive", justified criticism though, because that can always be a good thing too, because you learn from this and become a better person/worker.

Hope I've managed to help.

Take the delight yourself in thanking her for pointing out your mistakes and offering to train the 'older' colleagues to use the computers. She could be grooming you to be the next boss, but this is also a form of bullying and l think there is a better way about preparing people for promotion!. Play her own game, tell her you have a lot to prove because of the older staff, tell her to send you on a training course if she is pointing out so many mistakes - would the company pay? call her bluff, agree with everything she says but maybe mention it's shame others aren't trained in modern technology and how the company would benefit if they were brought up-to-date with their skills. You are offering a helping hand and looks like good initiative. Maybe one day she'll back off, because the whole time she is putting you down, she is wasting company time and should be doing more important work!. If things don't improve, you should leave, lifes to short to put up with awful people. I'd rather hate my job and like the people l work with than vice versa. Good luck! http://www.bullyonline.org/workbully/amibeing.htm

If someone criticises you, then that shows they care.Old people have a tendency of wanting the best from youngsters because they know if they shower you with praise, you will end up being complacent and the latter usually leads to worse mistakes than the ones she is correcting.
I know it's difficult, but try and tolerate her criticism and you will end up the wiser.Wisdom only comes to those with patience and are prepared to persevere even during difficult moments. She may be grooming you to be the future boss so, stop calling her a hypocrite and learn to appreciate her officiousness.

If you are happy in your job then all I can help with is helping you cope after 2 weeks hols.

Look forward to when she goes on leave. But before then imagine where she would go, what type of accommodation she would stay in, which of her cronies she would take with her and then imagine her doing her thing - strolling along a beach, hiking some trail etc - but totally naked. This should give you a good giggle and maintain your sense of humour.

If you cannot imagine her on holiday - just imagine her naked or standing there next to you in her underwear as she criticises your work. BE CAREFUL not to laugh in her face though, keep a dead-pan face or you could get repercussions.

Just think of the great times you had on hols think more of them than negative thoughts of the return to work feel. And also you have been on holiday in the sunshine not like your fellow workers thats why their grumpy rather jeoulous that you have been enjoying yourself. Or change jobs to have fresh new start and may be people there you can go on holiday with so you can all come back to work happy been away on hols. chin up.

I can empathise - just had a week off and DON'T want to go back to work tomorrow! My only advice is - get the diary out and book your next leave. It's the only thing to look forward to, after all.

Find an oulet or seek a psychologist. Either can help with this. Another thing would be to find another job that would be fulfilling.
