The Yankees have picked up the biggest and best stars for years, yet they don't have the success that is expected. Do too many egos in one stadium cause a lack of team play? I'd like to hear intelligent responses here, no "they suck." answers please. :)

The Yankees have a host of excellent players and an incredible manager in Joe Torre. Their problem is over confidence. They know they are good, and they just don't work as hard for it anymore. They aren't playing the game like they love it. Another issue is their hustle. They rely on their power in hitting the ball, but they just don't move around the bases. Another thing is the pitching staff. We spent way too much on someone like Randy Johnson who has done nothing for the team since he signed with them. It's time to retire some of the old blood (buh-bye Bernie) and add some fresh faces to the line-up...some men who really love the game and can give some fresh insite to some of the older members of the ball club, who need to be reminded just how lucky they are to be playing a game they love FOR MONEY, and how truely blessed they are with natural talent, and to be where they are. Employed by the best ball club in MLB.

It takes more than money to have a successful team, like gelling as a cohesive unit. All these "superstars"were stars on other teams, but on a team like the Yankees they are just another player, another superstar.Maybe their ego's cannot handle being average when surrounded by other great players.Look at the New England Patriots. They have a couple great players surrounded by really good players that all play for the team.No overpriced superstars.

The Yankees just prove that money doesn't buy you everything. The Tigers payroll is $80 million; the Stankees are $200 million. But who wanted it more? Who wanted to show they were for real? The Tigers worked on building a team, and they won.

Its very simple, Great pitching beats great hitting. When stud ace pitching is "on" it will stut down even the best hitters. Rodgers and bonderman were unhittable the last two nights,

My other theroy is that the are too many players on the yankees that have rings. Nothing is like the first championship and the fire inside does not burn as hot as it needs to to get it done.

They don't spend it wisely.

In stead of looking for players that have a good team chemistry, they put all the best players in each position.

Also, pitching has been lacking for theYanks. Pitching wins championships.

ONly a few players want to play...Compare them to a team like the 2001 Mariners, even though they did not win the world series, they were a bunch of guys who WANTED to play everyday

They spent so much money on hitters but nothing on pitching. The money they did spend on pitching got them nowhere. Brown, Pavano, Johnson all went bust. Two of them never pitched this season!!! Pitching wins ball games, that is where they need to focus.

You may not want to hear it, but it's the truth -- they suck. Badly. As far as I'm concerned it serves Steinbrenner right. He's the second biggest jerk in pro sports ownership, topped only by Al 'Just Win Baby' Davis.

Lack of pitching talent killed them this year.Plus the whole Jeter/A Rod thing was a distraction.
