GOOD QUESTION, Karl. Most people don't read the labels on those things, and those who do don't know the ill affects that can occur in later years from use of that stuff. Sugar ain't good for you at all - just look at the cases of obesity & diabetes. Caffiene is a great addictive stimulant that aggravates heart disease.

What these stimulant drinks do is continue to "wind up" a generation of people who are already on edge. Thus, road rage, domestic violence, and all the other stuff that comes with nervous tension.

These "energy" drinks use caffeine as their boost. It is similiar to a Jolt or Mountain Dew. The thing that people understand is that caffeine is a stimulant and causes dehydration. I would not recommend it for athletes to drink before a competition. Also, it has been found that a stimulant with a depressant (alcohol) as some like to mix can be a dangerous combination. There is nothing medicinal or holistic about the drinks. They are simply caffeine and sugar drinks. They are certainly not good nutrition.
