Compare Intel's duo core which, normally have 2MB caches and 667Mhz front bus speeds, with Amd's slower buses and smaller caches.Does this not make Amd slower?
Or is there any technical secret to this?

You can't compare bus speeds evenly becaue they use different technologies. Intel still uses the old Front Side Bus while AMD uses the HyperTransport. AMDs do still have something that is pretty much a FSB which is used in determing processor speed, and that is usually 200Mhz. Don't be alarmed as Intel FSB speed is quoted as 4x what the actual bus speed is because they are quadruple pumped. Anyway to sum it all up, just look at benchmarks because trying to compare the actually specs gets monumentally confusing.

These are the newest Quadcore Processors as Press release
Intel puts spotlight on quad-core

Intel will use the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco this week to highlight advances in its quad-core processors scheduled to start shipping by the end of this year.

Chief executive Paul Otellini will kick off the event on Tuesday morning, and will be followed by presentations from chief technology officer Justin Rattner.

Intel gave afirst public demonstration of the quad-core Kentsfield desktop processor at the previous IDF in March 2006. A server version of the chip is
being developed under the Clovertown codename.

The chips bundle two dual-core processors onto a single die. As a result the cores will not be able to share a single cache which could impact performance.

The next-generation processors are expected to feature a cache that is shared between all processor cores.

Rumours also suggest that Intel could unveil an initiative to integrate agraphics process directly onto its CPUs.

Such a move would be a logical response to similar plans by AMD, which acquired graphics card manufacturer ATI earlier this year for $5.4bn.

The Intel Developer Forum will be an important opportunity for the chip giantto polish its image as a leader in the high-tech landscape.

Intel has suffered from a drop in market share and revenues in recentquarters as a result of increasing competition from AMD.

The firm is in the process of laying off about 10,500 of its employees, and has re shuffled its top management and spun off divisions that did not contribute to the company's micro processor business.

why did you think amd has slow FSB!any way AMD processor idi not have FSB it is for the Intel's newer AMD's has new technology known as HyperTrasport Bus and it is directly connected to CPU
because it has integrated Memory controller with in it unlike the Intel CPU and AMD's bus speed is 2000MHZ. 200MHz*10=2000
its bus speed is achived by multiplying.
