All revolvers are pisols, but not all pistols are revolvers. A pistol is generally refered to as a hand-held weapon. There are two main types; revolvers and sem-automatics.

The revolver gets its name from the magazine that contains the ammunition, which revolves to place new cartridge into firing position after each shot.

regularly, (there are exceptions) revolver ammunition, like .38 particular and .357 Magnum, headspace on the case rim. the coolest length of the case isn't too significant, that's why you may shoot .38 particular in a revolver chambered for .357 Magnum. Pistol ammunition headspaces on the case mouth, i.e., the dimensions of the case. the coolest length of the case is amazingly significant. A case that's basically too long won't totally chamber and would reason intense chamber tension and could harm the gun, or you. in spite of the shown fact that, some revolvers are designed to shoot rimless pistol ammunition. so long through fact the field says .40 5 ACP you're sturdy to bypass.
