Our problem is that we want to control everything,
If we can, if its possible, we want to control, not only the thoughts, we want to control the whole world.
If not the world, ok we want to control our country, if its not possible, then our town, if not our family
When this all is not possible, we want to control ourselves.
Something is better than nothing
Ego always find the way
Ego always find the food to nourish, in every thing.

At first place what is the need to control, to control anything.
We are not able to control our breath even, this is what we call,
I am breathing. If its me who is doing. so also I can stop doing that
what I am doing.
Can we stop our breath even for 5mts.
you no the answer.
Its happening. All is happening.
LIfe means continuously flow.
How we know, if person is dead or alive?
The first thing we say check the breathing.
If he is breathing, we know he is alive.
Breathing means life in flow.
Ocean is flowing, rivers are flowing, life is in flow
The very idea to control, create tension.
Have you got my point?
Drop this idea to control anything
All is beautiful, the way it is.

You are getting to serious, lets have little fun.

In my town the priest was getting old
He needed to be retire.
He was 95yrs old.
The new priest took his place, he was 35yrs old.
The moment old priest hand over his responsebilty
The young priest ask to the old

In his confessing he said
I have lot of fantasys in my head.
Many women come in my dream.
naked or in sexy clothes, or in transparent nightys
Sir, how long it takes that this fantasys disappear
The old man said, son I don't no exactly
But one thing I can tell you, it takes more than 95yrs.

So beloved lets have fun in life, its good to be serious

Good question. I’ve thought about such things for a number of years now. This type of questions has many levels for example is there a thinker separate from thought? Without thoughts the thinker becomes only an observer with no space (or thoughts) between what is beheld. At that point you are all things. If you look at a tree with no thought, there is no you only the tree.

But to answer your question simply, Yes I can control what I think about if I want to think about baseball or girls no problem.

If I am not mistaken the thinker is the thought, if it is so there's nothing to control. The thought controls another thought, they are one and the same disguising as a controller and one being controlled. The director-actor in a play.
I think you know very well that we, the people are thoughts and everybody wants to control everybody that is why our world is in chaos. I think I have a question related to yours if you won't mind. Can the thinker who is a thought realized his right perspective and play only around his limit? Sorry for injecting a question. ty

The thinker is in control of all thoughts for the thought to even exist it must be first thought of by the thinker. Therefore origination and responsibility and control belong to the thinker.

no a thinkers thoughts so consume him that as he solves one problem his thoughts have already moved to the next,to a thinker their is no day or night just that all consuming thought. even in sleep the thinker is at his thoughts mercy, for a true thinker continues his thoughts even in his dreams. the greatest thinkers in history have all done this and many have even wrote about it lol

People can exert at least some control over their thoughts by deciding to reflect on particular things - it is an important way of getting out of a bad mood.

Whether we decide out of our own free will or because our decisions are caused by external factors (including perhaps God) is a huge issue. Start reading up on the "Problem of Free Will"!

Yes. To answer this question, one must know the level of awareness one is in. There is one mind that all of us share. You have the capacity to control your thoughts by not becoming the doer (thinker). Instead, become the observer and you will realize thoughts are energies/vibrations floating around you/coming from nowhere. They spring from the subconcious into the conscious mind.

As an individual, we are like magnets--attracting to us thoughts with a similarity to our state of mind in that moment. For example, if our physical body is in a state of hunger, the thought of eating comes to us much stronger than any other thought. It is like looking at a specific color. The vibration of light reflects all but that color, so we see that color.

One can master thoughts instead of being a slave to it. Thoughts are energies. Our physical world as we know it is built solidly from our thoughts about it. From our being, a desire (for something--let's say buying a house) arises. The desire then finds a way to manifest itself to you by attracting thoughts that will make it materialize (example: "what kind of house? how will I afford this?" are questions that originate in the "thought-world"), then it is further reinforced by our feelings and "emotions" (energy in motion). Until finally, we have a blue print of obtaining our desires.

Ultimately, we are responsible for our thoughts. We are like gardeners tending to our garden (life), making sure we only have the best of flowers and trees (success, love, abundance and all good life has to offer) instead of being overrun by weeds and pests (all the negatives of life).

If you mean the content of the thought, then yes.
If you mean the occurence of the thought i would say very few on this planet have truly mastered the art. Maybe some Yogis sitting in the snow or some of the Shao-Lin. But i have my reservations even on those ...

Well, if the thinker every meditated he would be in control of his thoughts as the whole thing about meditation is to empty your mind of every day thoughts and to savour the moment....

Essentially, the thinker has no thoughts, because there is no thinker and no thought. And any thought he does have is certainly not his, seeing as how it is 'given'. What do you think?
