LOL! I totally thought of the same thing that the person above me said! "Somewhat dead" is as unlikely as "somewhat pregnant."

"Dead" means that one's life has ended, and that's permanent. (For those purposes of this, I won't go into the semantics of "brain dead" -- I mean "dead dead".) And although you are obviously not pregnant permanently, you can't be only "partially" pregnant. If a fertilized egg has implanted in your uterus, you're pregnant -- until you give birth, or have a miscarriage.

Well, that depends on what you mean...
If you're speaking of "The Living Dead", then zombie, ghost, and apparation would do the job.
If you mean "dying", then fading, passing, and withering answer your question.
If you're talking about being partially dead (as in brain-dead), then oblivion, absent, and dying would alson do the job.
If you're talking about an electronic device being almost broken, then I suppose you could say busted, defunct, or almost-gone to finish it.
