Are you sure you want to sacrifice your friendship? Because there's no turning back once you get intimate with a friend.
Ask him/her out on a romantic dinner, just the two of you and tell him/her what you feel. Don't ask for an answer immediately, because it might be a lot to stomach so quickly if you're good friends. Give some time to think about it.

well i would show them my best side so to speak make my intentions known take more interest in what they are doing or make a definate move toward them you have heard of spur of the moment things try it u have nothing to lose !!! or just sit down and talk some heading towards your feelings for this person so they know your intehtins and take it from there !!

With great difficulty.
Getting them drunk sounds hazardous. Anything could happen and you could be accused of rape etc.
I would say be more responsible and talk to the person. ask them if they would ever consider dating you.

just keep being his friend and let him or her know that you have strong feelings for them and you want to know if he or she ever thinks of you in other ways more than just friends..
