I will be picked on at school if I don't shave, not only that I refuse to wear short sleeved tops and skirts because i'm so embarassed about my hair. I don't dare ask my parents if i'm allowed to shave, some one please help me, or reasure me. I cry a lot about it and I blame my parents for not letting me shave, but they arn't to blame if I havn't even asked, are they? Every one I know shaves.
Thanx in advance.

well, i'm almost fifteen and I don't shave. I haven't shaved ever in my life.

The reason why I don't shave is that if you start shaving at an early age, the older you get, the more spidery your legs become and the hairs that grow on your legs won't be soft, but hard.

if you haven't shaved your legs ever, and you feel your legs, the hairs are fine. if you shave your legs, the hairs will become thicker and thicker.

I have tan skin and dark hair, so my hair does not really show in the sun and kind of camoflauges with my skin. But, I would try to not shave until I am a little older, (18, perhaps) and when I do shave, I would have smooth skin. Also, if you shave, the pores that your hair comes out from, will show more.

Also, plan to have a laser removal on your legs (that is what I'm certainly doing) because once you take the laser removal, no more hairs will grow and you will have hairless, smooth legs all your life. But of course, you won't be able to do it until you are sixteen (I think) or older.

My cousin is eighteen and has the prettiest legs. Of course, my parents say that my legs are just like hers, but my cousins legs are fairer and she has not started to shave her legs yet. Well, the difference is that I grow more hairs than her so that would be a problem.

So, here's my advice and reason. Hope it helps!

Plus, don't be too embarassed by having hairy legs. The people who would laugh at anyone with hairy legs will have ugly looking legs when they grow older, just to let you know.

In my opinion, if you're old enough to get on the Internet and ask the question, you're old enough to shave. You also did a pretty bang up job of spelling and punctuating, which is more than I can say for most kids on here. I think you're ready. You're right though, if you haven't asked, you can't get mad at your parents.

I have really dark hair and was self-conscious about it as early as pre-school. My mom let me shave my legs at a very early age, so it was never an issue for me. As far as your arm hair goes, you just have to quit being self-conscious about it. Chances are it will lighten when you're older anyway. People don't think much of flaws from people who are confident. Change your attitude about yourself and it will help the way others see you as well.

Ask your mom if you can start shaving your legs. Tell her it makes you feel awkward having hairy legs and that it upsets you. Hopefully she'll be understanding of this and will let you shave. I don't see why any sane woman WOULDN'T let you shave. Good luck!

I know exactly how you're feeling. I was probably the last one to start shaving out of all my friends. I also used to cover up all the time so i know what you mean. All i can say is dont get worked up about it cos as you get older you'll realise how insignificant it was, everyone grows up. As for parents i didn't ever mention it and just did it anyway. I have never actually spoken of shaving with my parents although no they obviously realised i did it. Alternativly you could say to your mom" oh man, i'm sick of being hairy, i'm so gonna start to shave. " Yeah just make a joke of it. i realise how daft this may sound but trust me, it will work. your parents wont think anything of it. Good luck!!

my daughter is 10 and asked me if i could shave her legs as she was embarrassed by the hair,i thought back to my childhood when i was 11 and in the 1st year of high school, when i was on a bus,and a girl decided to make a nasty comment about my legs(wouldnt mind but the hair was really fine and blonde,so not really noticeable)that very night i shaved her legs, and now see that my daughter is a lot more confident wearing school skirts, please talk to your mum
dont know how old you are,but if you cant talk to your mum,ask an aunty or other female relative to have a word for you.growing up is hard, but even harder if you cant speak openly to your mum, please try.you'll feel better for it,honestly,

I certainly do not think you are too young. I can understand how you feel. There are a lot of cute clothes you can't wear because of this. And this is how I would approach your parents about it.

Is it necessary that you ask your parents? I just did it. If you think this will cause a problem don't do it. But if not--why not?

If you think you should ask--maybe your Mom would be the best--but you know your parents better than me. I would think a mother would best understand this. Fathers never want to think their little girls are growing up.

i have shaving since 12 years old. I hate body hair. If you have boy hair, you are old enough to shave. And parents try to say bull like it you shave, it'll grow back thicker. That's when you say, well i'll just shave every week so that won't happen. Just keep asking and if you're scared to ask, buy your own razor and if you don't know how to shave, ask an older sister or an older girl you know.

Hello you, can I ask if you have any other problems, like with your periods or anything, have you put weight on? It might be normal for you but there are other reasons why you have excessive hair, medical reasons, please go to the doctors and get checked out, I don't know how old you are but you must be pretty young. You can go to the doctors alone, and try speak to your mum if you haven't spoken to her do not assume she is gonna dismiss what you are saying. I hope you are okay and you shave honey, but go to the doctors to rule out something called pcos, not serious so dont worry about that either.

well we need to know how old you are, but if like you say other girls your age are shaving , then maybe it is a good time to start.

it is causing you a lot of stress, so you should ask your parents as soon as possible. maybe they have not suggested it , as they have not given it thought. sometimes us parents need a little push and education .

i found these 2 sites which give opinions, http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/grow/body_stuff/shaving.html
http://parentingteens.about.com/cs/familylife/a/girlsshaving.html

try not to be scared to ask for anything you are concerned bout. the worst thing is that they will say no , but guarantedd they will think about it , and maybe surpirse you ,especially if you are able to communicate your feelings as well as you have done here.

good luck and really savour the important moment when you do get to shave.

Take care! If you are thinking of shaving your body hair, go to your mother or a female adult you can trust for advice. Razors are sharp and bodies are soft and lumpy- not easy to shave without cutting. Be prepared to cut yourself a little but don't do it alone the first time. Get somone to help & advise you 'til you feel confident! All of us girls have been where you are now, don't worry, you WILL cope!
Also, ignore the jerks who have given you abusive answers, they need to get a life!
Just remember, ASK for help! Good luck.

It depends on your age. When I just turned 10 I needed to shave my arm pits and it turned out I was an early developer. Talk to your consuler about being picked on or talk to your school nurse about shaving. Just tell your mom that you need to shave, but don't blame your parents.
