I think Abbas would do anything to please the west and Israel ....I think he is to weak for Palestine...He is ready to recognize Israel despite what the ones that elected him think...
Hamas has done many things for the Palestinians. They really helped them. They build schools, they gave them food and water...They were constantly fighting against the Israeli occupation...Maybe if Hamas would be given a chance to government, they would do something good for the Palestinians...

Difficult question. The current democratically elected government is obviously not to the US's liking and the people are suffering due to the sanctions imposed by the US. This is likely to cause the people to hate the US more. However, supporting US interests is the only way the people are likely to get any sort of decent (relative term) life while the US has such power over the region. So in a way, by going against the people, the leadership is acting for their benefit. Essentially the US is being it's usual tyrannical self and the rest of the world can choose to do as they are told or get flattened...

The West wanted Palestine to have democratic elections and they did have it but since the party that came to power is not to the like of the West, the country has been virtually denied of normal economic contacts with other countries. Ironically, the Palestinian president seems to be an agent of the West!

If they are successfully, they would be serving both the Palestinian and Israel interests. The people only want stability and peace so they can live there lives without fear and death.
What's the difference if it serves US interest or not?
