Ive beaten them and have their friend area, but they wont join me!

just keep trying. their size is only 1 star each. remember, just like with everything else, it's only a chance that you can recruit them, so try, and try again!

In Mystery Dungeon, Legendary and boss type pokemon cannot join your team.

keep fighting them. and when u go there dont bring the really large pokemon. that might be preventing u from recruiting them. keep 2 one * pokemon or 1 two * pokemon (the * = size) check their info to confirm the size.
