There isn't an exact age. The age turtles reach depend on many factors. Some can live a very long time. The large Galapagos tortoises from the Galapagos Islands can live more than 200 years. Some American box turtle have been documented at over 100 years old. Some sea turtles probably live 75 years or more. The common pet, the red-eared slider, can live 40 years or more if they receive good care.

Large tortoises and sea turtles can live for over 100 years, with some over 200.
Most other tortoises and some larger turtles can hit 100 but generally run about 80.
Small tortoises and medium turtles run about 50-60.
Most turtles hit about 30-40.
Turtles being rasied in poor conditions are lucky to make it to 2. Most baby turtles sold today will not turn even 1.

There are 13 turtle species in West Virginia in 4 families. Almost all of our turtles are aquatic or semi-aquatic. The box turtle is the only species that spends most of its life on land and hibernates in the soil; the rest hibernate underwater. Many turtles have very long lifespans! Box turtles can live well over 100 years and other turtles like the spotted turtle can live over 50 years. Because turtles live so long, it is not so important that they produce many offspring every year. In fact, most turtle eggs or the hatchlings are eaten by birds, foxes, or other predators.
Their ability to live incredibly long has resulted in the loss of many turtles in North America. Many turtles are collected to be sold as pets, either in this country or overseas. Spotted turtles and wood turtles are a favorite of collectors because these animals are very friendly and easy to care for. Taking old adults out of the wild can lead to the loss of populations though. It is important that habitat is protected for turtles, but also that turtles are protected from people interested in collecting them

Turtles can live pretty long mostly in captivity. In captivity (depending on the breed of turtle) they can live up to 50 or more years. In the wild they can live long too but there are more dangers they have to be careful of.
If you want a turtle for a pet be prepared for a live long turtle companion and the cost of keeping him/her.
(Also if you want a turtle but want to stay in the smaller sized turtles get a male, females get bigger then males.)

Pet turtles can live genrally to 50-70 if raised in colder climate (but with the heating pad). It's still kind of rough on them. If raised where it doesn't get cold much and given good care (then up to 100). THe big breeds that are over 40 pounds can live up to 200 years in extreme cases.

As the others said it depends on the species and their living conditions. Some live over 150, others only a few years.
Where they live matters, in captivity with vets on duty they live longer. In the wild available food will make a difference as will pollution.
