Reason they have waivers assoc with them is because they have been droped. At that point now those players have to clear waiver rules, which is usually a day or two and then if any team puts a claim on them that team gets that player.

Now if two teams have the same claim on him then the team with the highest waiver priority will get that player. The waiver priority is decieded by the draft. Whom ever picked last in the 1st round gets 1st waiver prioirty, down the list till you get to the guy who picked 1st.

If you release a player or a player is added to the league (or being released by the other team), then that player is on waiver, which means you have to wait for a certain day before that player become's a free agent (the date on the parenthese is the day that they clear waiver). Each team has a waiver priority, from 1-12, with 1 being the first team to get the advantage to claim a waiver player if that team place a claim (otherwise, the higher the priority, the better chance they get a player on waiver). Every waiver claim that is successful will have the team automatically drop to 12 on waiver proirity, depending on who made the last claim if there is multiple claim on different players. Free Agents won't drop a team's waiver priority because their not on waiver.

Tip: Try not to place a waiver claim on an average player and wait for other's to make a claim, except if there's a great player on waiver. For every other team that makes a sucessful waiver claim, that team moves down to 12 on waiver priority and every other team moves up one spot up on waiver priority.
