Well in the Philippines, most of the shops are already displaying all kinds of Christmas decorations at the start of September. I know for some countries, it may seemed to be too early but the people here are too excited to welcome Christmas that believe it or not, some people starts caroling already during the day on this month, which we considered begging for alms but using caroling as a means to disguise their real intentions. That annoys me a little bit but I normally just give out loose changes, not a whole bill so they can buy food. I love Christmas so I don't mind seeing all those beautiful Christmas decorations in the mall together with the scary halloween decor, at least, the kids who are afraid of seeing the weird masks will still be smiling seeing the Christmas decorations.

When I was a girl in the "olden" days (grin), Christmas decorations and such did not go in the stores until the day after Thanksgiving. Now its there in October. Which is ridiculous! Just more proof that Christmas has become a commercial holiday for many. How sad that the true meaning has been forgotten by so many.

Far too early. No wonder so many ppl have lost sight of the magic of Christmas. It's just become one 4 month long shopping trip. Ban it all till December and then let everyone have some proper festive fun. The Easter Egg's will be out next month too!

I do. Christmas is supposed to be for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ but it seems to me that it is considered to be a "season" lasting several months and does not even stop after 25th December as shops sell off their "old" Christmas stock in January sales by advising customers to buy early for next Christmas - Christmas Cards, decorations, gift bows etc. it is ridiculous to be playing Christmas Carols in October!

It started 5 months ago!....my local Budget DIY store were putting their Christmas decorations on the shelves in the middle of June. (This year I think it would be better to leave our trees up until next Christmas as it's not worthwhile taking them down)
Easter eggs will probably be in the shops Boxing Day!
Anyway Happy Christmas, Happy New Year and a Happy Easter as well. (\(*;*)

Good question. I wish there was someone to complain to that would make a difference. It is hard explaining to your 5 year old that he has to wait through 2 more holiday events before Christmas. I say that no one buy the stuff until after Thanksgiving and maybe the stores will start getting the hint they are wasting space and might wait longer!

I agree, it wasnt so bad when they put Christmas decorations out at Thanksgiving..... but now that they do it before Halloween is rushing it too much and I do get tired of it way before Christmas even gets here.

They don't even remotely care about the religious aspect of Christmas; they milk any event that they can get a buck out of, so as far as the stores, I'd have to say no. It would be different if they weren't observing it purely for reasons of profit.
