Take a physical science class in college. The sun will not explode. It is a yellow giant, so it will expand in size to engulf the Earth and probably Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn ... then it will shrink down to a fraction of it's current size and become a white dwarf star. But don't worry, that won't happen for a couple billion years, so I don't think you have anything to worry about right now.
