We're planning on staying for about two weeks. Any suggestions of places we should see would be greatly appreciated. Also we would like to avoid any "tourist" things. We don't want to fly all that way from the US to run into other Americans, if you know what I mean.

there's lots of different things you could do, check http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Visitors/ for ideas.

you could also take advantage of the fact that Scotland is a small country and Glasgow has transport links to everywhere. you could take day trips to places like Edinburgh, St Andrews, Ayr, Inverness, North Berwick etc etc
