what can you say. Second hand is just that and you take a chance. However there are thousands if not millions of lap tops being used every day and you heard about one of two going on fire due to the battery because it was an unusually event so I would not worry about it. If it was a common thing to happen I would not have been reported

If batteries are an issue, you don't need to run them on batteries at all. They come with a adapter/charger you can run them on AC while your at home. Most of those batteries should be out of circulation already since they have been recalled. If you by a referb from Tiger Direct you can question them on the battery issue before you buy.

ok i am posting this as an ex-dell tech. dell recalled sony batteries pro-actively and was trying to prevent that situation from happening. and if you would listen to the news you would have also heard that apple is recalling some of their batteries as well for this issue. i worked for dell for a period of 2 years and never once did we have a system that caught on fire except the one in japan. now then i also have a friend that worked for dell for a period of 4 years and he says that he has never heard of one either except the japan notebook. so really the chances of a computer catching on fire are very slim.

Ask Dell for a alternative. in the event that they do no longer desire, by no potential paying for Dell back is a no-brainer (they have a attractiveness for crap customer help). Dell additionally has a attractiveness for laptops that capture on fireplace(and in one case reason a plane crash (allegedly)). then you certainly ought to start purchase taking some photos and sending them to a good number of media places, newspapers, television stations, on line blogs, and so on. Write your tale and deliver it with it, alongside with how Dell dealt with it. Worst case, see a lawyer. If it truly is decrease than a million year previous, Dell is had to interchange it. If it truly is extra, Dell would desire to desire to stay away from undesirable exposure.
