I used to be a smoker and I have a reflux. 5 weeks ago and today, I went to an air conditioned room. I kept coughing and feeling itchy throat, but after I left the air-conditioned room. My itchy throat and coughs have gone.

It is a library computer lab. Many people there. Only I had coughs

It just means the air is too dry

This happens to me at times too. The filters in the air conditioner may be dirty. There is also a mold that will grow in filters that will irritate some peoples throat and lungs, me being one of them.

the airconditioner could be dirty, and causing an allergie attack, or the air could be too dry for you. But coughing and itchy throat is usualy the sign of allergies.

The a/c won't make it worse, but changing between a/ced and non-ac/ed environements does.

They might need to change the filters. Clean filters will help.
