Be photographed with a camera which has 'anti red eye' - the flash goes off several times before the picture is taken, by which time your pupils will be tiny and you'll have finished blinking - in theory, anyway!

Have the photographer close off the redeye help function ... you're ultimate your eyes even as the first flash is going off (to close down the iris of your eye) and also you're preserving them closed till you're particular there is not any extra flashing.

Keep your eyes closed, then ask the photographer to shout open at the point he/she is going to press the button, your eyes will be open and also have that fresh wide eyed look

Please try using eye drops to relax and sooth. Try any visine or other brands that say stop redness, itch and moistures. Buy them at a local pharmacy or at walgreens over the counter items. Or ask the pharmacist of that store.
