You should start by trying a different keyboard to see if it's a hardware fault. Since it is missing characters and not showing the wrong ones it's very likely that someone spilled liquid in it and some keys are not working anymore.

It seems as though your keys buttons (the sensitive pads under the keys) are damaged. This can happen when the keyboard gets older just through typing.
When you typed "My name is Jessica what's yours"
The "a" is missing from name the "s" is missing from is etc. This indicates that the keys are the problem. You should just buy a new keyboard or alternativley borrow a friends keyboards and see if this solves the "missing letters mystery".
Good Luck.

Could be hardware error. Try rebooting. If still a problem, try to reinstall the driver. If it's just a standard/generic keyboard, delete the keyboard from the hardware setup and allow window to redetect (i.e., turn machine off, unplug keyboard, replug keyboard using different port if possible, restart).

Your keyboard may have dust and dirt under the keys , making them stick. Yurn it upsidedown and sahke it. Get a can of compressed air and blow out all the dirt. You can get the air at wal -mart in the PC section
