All the answers mentioning a mild acid are correct. White wine vinegar (acetic acid) or lemon juice (citric acid) are fine.Don't use anything stronger though. Marble is metamorphosed limestone (Calcium Carbonate) so it will react with any acid, and therefore a small part of the surface layer of the marble effectively burns off, leaving you with a fresh clean suface.

Believe it or not, warm water and white vinegar would do a brilliant damp dusting job. Follow this with a hot soapy wash, dry thoroughly and polish with Mr Sheen or the like.
2 parts water, to 1 part vinegar. Use neat vinegar on tough stains. It must be WHITE vinegar though.

Clean it with juice from a lemon but wipe down straight afterwards with cloth wrung out in clean water.

I use a soft cleaning product on mine, (can be used on tubs, etc), then wash it off with warm water and a lint-free towel

Finish with boiled linseed oil used sparingly.
