I hear ya loud and clear!! It is truly a sad thing....However, who's fault is it? Who are the people making the decisions? Adults.
**IT IS THE PARENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Parents need to take their kids outside, and stop allowing their kids to be lazy, play video games and stare at the tv all day!!!!!!!! No wonder there is such an obesity problem. Stop using technology as a babysitter for your kids....On a road trip: instead of popping a dvd in your mini-vans tv, why not have the kids read a book? Why not talk?! Goodness gracious....people act like it is such a chore to do what is expected of them as parents (and i understand that it is SUCH hard work, don't get me wrong...I am not underestimating the hard work of a parent at all) but I am talking about the people who just expect the kids to raise themselves, and toss the kids from one nanny to the other, or just let the kid rot inside all day. What type of society do you think that will breed?!? Not a good one.
There always seems to be an EXCUSE. If parents would take their kids to the pool instead of having the nanny do it, introduce them to good music, actually help their kids build a fort, take them camping maybe kids would learn to value and appreciate those things. If you do not have the time to do those things, get your priorities straight or sign them up for BOY SCOUTS or GIRL SCOUTS. Lets do something about this!
**I would also like to point out the fact that there are many teenagers on yahoo answers that are asking questions that should be answered by their parents....and I know that I would not like my teenager on yahoo answers asking complete strangers for love advice, or questions about their personal life. Their parents should be monitoring their online activity, available to answer these questions and be able to tell their kids that they are WAY to young to be worrying about such things.
p.s. Whether it is the advertising company putting an ad on tv- p.s. don't buy the product until more suitable ads come out....they'll change their campaign if no one is buyin'

ahh, the carefree, innnocent days of childhood. It's a shame society encourages all things that take us away from the good ole fashion ideas of what is good and fun. I do agree with the country setting as the best...I moved to country acreage when my first two were toddlers....we had so much room to play, woods behind us, creeks and ravines to explore. I loved taking them (eventually four children) for adventures in the outdoors. They did not have a lot of in town activities, but never were without things to do in the summer...like you said, they did all you did and did not stay in front of the tv or video games! So far, they are passing down their ideals to their children.

Yeah, I do, yet there is been some mistake someplace. Ma presented me to teams like Black Sabbath, Queen, unfastened, skinny Lizzy and all that cool stuff, alongside with singers like Neil Diamond and Elkie Brooks. Dad presented me to Elvis, narrow Bloody Whitman, Glen Campbell, Johnny money etc. i can take heed to to maximum of this on the instant - and purely narrow Whitman isn't on my iPod. yet ma is now into Take Bloody That, and greatly surprised me at present by making use of going nuts over Gnarls Barkly - I hadn't heard of them on the time...yet she's extra in music with present day bloody music than i'm!

i also grew up in those times.the kids of today are responding to what's a part of their world now. we didn't have these influences of today.we rarely saw grown people in bed on t.v. not together anyway, but we sure tried to.these kids have so much temptation today and the general public makes it all seem OK or the smut that's on wouldn't be on.It's kind of the older folks fault for allowing this crap in our homes via;movies,t.v.etc. the old days would censor such action.

I agree that children of today play differently, yes. I lived in city and played outdoors. It had nothing to do with country.
