I had a miscarriage in Jan. that threatened my life and cost me the life of my son. With that being said, is it normal to have dr.'s appointments every two weeks and ultrasounds at each appointment? I mean you can detect a miscarriage before it happens can you? I was 16 weeks with my son so isn't it a little early anyhow?

A miscarriage can be be defined simply as a spontaneous abortion. I dont believe you can detect an actual miscarriage, as they are spontaneous. You can detect problems, defects, issues with the pregnancy, that if caught early enough can possibly prevent a miscarriage, although that is up for debate.
If you have a history of pregnancy issues your doctor may wish to see you every 2 weeks, may wish to have an ultrasound each time to keep a close watch on how your pregnancy is progressing. It is really up to the doctor how often they wish to see you. High risk pregnancies also see the doctor more frequently (every 2 weeks) with an ultrasound about every 4 weeks (high risk can be a number of things, from multiple pregnancy, previous pregnancy complications, age, health before becoming pregnant etc)
I dont think you should worry, sounds like your doctor is taking the necessary precautions and youre being well taken care of!

Because you are considered high risk, they want to monitor you more closely. As for having ultrasounds every appt, I think it's a little much, espcially not knowing if there was a medical reason for the miscarriage. Your doctor will be the only one to tell you what they are looking for on the ultrasound, and I'm glad you have such a caring/aware Dr.

it would be diverse in the protection tension than right here, yet i replaced into checked each and every 4 weeks till 30 weeks, then each and every 2 weeks till 36 then a week after. The docs ( I observed some diverse ones) checked the toddler's heartbeat and measured the fundus top (distance from ribcage to pelvis bone) to computer screen the toddler's enhance. The fudus length in centimeters ought to extra or less equivalent your weeks alongside. this is out by making use of two cm the two way and nevertheless be large. you ought to even try this at domicile with a stitching tape degree. At 33 weeks you ought to be 31-35 cm from the suited of the womb (concerning the backside of your ribcage in the process your chest) on your pelvic bone (concerning the suited of pubic hair) those are the only 2 tests they did, till the top. I have been given an ultrasound (biophysical examination) to degree how huge the toddler replaced into 3 weeks previous to delivery and to ascertain the quantity of fluid around the toddler. this would possibly not be a generic examination as i replaced into measuring somewhat large and that they have got been in touch the toddler replaced into too huge. My well-being care provider mentioned that as long using fact the coronary heart fee replaced into stable and the fudus length replaced into on time table the toddler replaced into large. My well-being replaced right into a extra valuable indicator of the toddler's well-being than the different tests they'd do.

its not normal to see a doctor so much in ur first trimester - but i gather they consider u a high risk pregnancy? as for the ultrasounds at each visit, i know that here (australia) obs can have the machines in their rooms, and do an ultrasound as matter of course at every visit - much like the heart beat doppler (sp?) machine they use. better to ask these questions of the person who can help u - your doctor!
best of luck

They just wanna make sure that if there is something wrong they can catch it early for ur sake and ur child so it is normal. Also they wanna make sure there is a heartbeat because if something happens and u have the fetus and they don't detect it Ur life would be threatened
