The question in the front of early man was just how to survive? there need was limited to food & shelter not even clothes were important to them. But today everybody's thinking is beyond food, clothes & shelter everbody has his own dream for becoming famous & rich and want all those things (luxorious items) which is result of this modernisation & industrlisation, today everybody is aware of or well educated that what are the things this world has, everybody wants to compete with each other so that he should be recognised, identified or get noticed. The vision of thinking has been broaden in everybody, for eg. a new born baby is satisfied with milk when she becomes hungry and start crying, but once she is grown up she looks here and there and she also starts crying for toys and further on for good clothes more attractive toys and on & on. Like this eg. the early man was like a new born baby he was satisfied with food & shelter but today's man is a grown up child. We can also survive in this world without running behind money though it is difficult as each and everything in this world revolves around money. "SANTOSHAM PARMAM SUKHAM" Happiness and pleasure lies in satisfaction, but today nobody is satisfied with what he has, everybody thinks that happiness lies in money as it has all the power to buy any thing from this world but he does'nt know that money cannot stop the time, Human life is all about time, Money cannot save the life of person, everybody have to leave this world it does'nt matter he was superstar, great politician or big industrialist. A worker or a Mazdoor working on daily wages basis digging earth works for whole day gets money and buy food for the day and get asleep without any thoughts for more money as he has no hope that he can run behind money and become rich.

It is not the money which is important but the means provided by money that i important. If you don't have money like ancient days people used to exchange things from each other. But in this there was no standard to equate the worth of a thing. So they started to equate in gold, then silver, then copper and finally a promissory note of the government equating it to a fixed value.
So even if you decide to do away with currency yet you will have to invent a method of equating things. Try to work out some means by your self.

it is not the paper or the nickel.
it is the house, the clothes, the food, the movies and the dreams you can share with your loved ones when you have money.

When you do not have money you will have to do without these things, How can you give your loved ones the best you want for them? Money is the means to exchange your labor for the things you want.

Too much Money put too much power on some peoples hands, and when these people are not good, too much bad happens to the society. That is the problem.

And we,too, could SURVIVE without money. However to enjoy a civilization such as the one that exists all over the earth we need an organized system of currency. It just fits like legos. People put importance on money, because it is important. Material wealth is more important now than it has ever been in human history. We don't grow our food, or kill, we find our sole source of sustanance by purchases. And it goes without saying that money and sex go hand in hand. Food, and sex. Do you see whay money is important?

Well Lady,
In the past world, there was no money system....but there was barter system.
So you had to get rid of something to get something else you wanted.

Considering that, isnt the money system better? At least you dont have to trade something you want to keep with you, for something you need....

Hence, money is a better idea that the past world's ways and we can't survive without money.
:-)

Hope that answers your question!

All the best

You're right. I wonder why myself. But I'm 16 and don't necessarily look at shopping in such a flowery way. I donate my earned money but I don't buy anything I don't need....

The thing is that these days... everything is done with money. Money this and money that. I live with a couple of people who lived their entire lives by working and earning money. Then saving it in their bank... what for? To die and hand it over to someone else? And their greed for money numbs my soul, because it freezes their heart. All they think about is what the price is.... and I think "For the love of God, if you want it... buy it. What does money have to do with this?" And believe it's all they have and it's going to be too late when they realize that money sincerely doesn't buy everything. I know - for one it'll never buy my trust back.

Having said that, there are people who have good control and manage their love of money... they don't let it bore their happiness. I respect those who use it wisely. But to those who forget everything and work day in and day out (missing all their fun, their beauty and youth) for money... it's incredibly awful and pathetic. As for me - I want what money can't buy and really wish I can earn it someday.

Stay safe. - Maryam

While it is true that they survived w/o money, The trouble is that we have become a society based upon economics. As to why cant we because it is there. And it is a requirement to live in todays society. However my father is a veitnam vet and I have met a few of his friends that are still hold up deep in the woods, as they are still unable to adjust to todays society. So it is possible to survive w/o money. As they are doing it.

This is a problem with mental programming. Money introduced to ease exchange of goods and services. Now we actually started earning money for the sake of money. It is to get rid off future uncertainty. But, eventually I think like everything else, people started earning money for the sake of money. Unwell the individuals and the society.

We have become a spoiled and materialistic society. Unfortunately, most people would not be willing to give up all the comforts and conviences of what we have today. There are just those who feel they need the best. Like the old saying goes "The love of money is the root of all evil."

You cannot compare the past with the present. In stone age, life was simple; the human activities included only eating, sex & sleeping for which a simple barter system was sufficient. But now things have become very complicated; technology has grown by leaps & bounds; man's needs increased in multiples. It is not possible to follow the old system any more. Man needs money to survive unless if one is allowed to live in a jungle without any competition.
