I'm a web designer and I use firefox because a) its a lot more stable, b) treats code EXACTLY as it is supposed to be treated (unlike IE) and c) its a hell of a lot more secure.
I can't believe that people are still naively using IE to be honest but most people only use it because they don't realise there's an alternative. And that new version - the one with the tab system - is abissmal! Its horrendously slow and it STILL destroys perfectly good accessible code. Microsoft have spent ages trying to make the browser look more interesting (and failed in my opinion) and no time whatsoever in addressing the reasons why people switched from using it in the first place.
As for the way that IE now blocks all ActiveX INCLUDING flash, don't even get me started. If they hadn't alienated every web designer by that point, they have now. When I design a flash website I want it to be immediately useable without having to put bulky javascript workarounds into my code so that the user can have the same experience he would in any other BETTER browser. Truly ridiculous.
I will stick with Firefox until somebody shows me something better - but unfortunately I have to design and test in ALL browsers.

I love it.
Loveitloveitloveit!
I find that it is a bit faster than IE but I do have cable internet, so I have a free choice in browsers. (Download FastFox from Firefox Add-ons. I don'know how well it would work on your computer, but it takes a half of a second and makes it a fourth on mine!)
Also, I like the themes that it offers. They make using it much more personal. Many addons. Fun fun!
I like to use Firefox when I can. Less bugs, more fun. Go Firefox!

I've been using Firefox for over a year and I love it. If a website doesn't comply well with Firefox, like a video won't play, or certain flash graphics don't show up, I usually consider it the fault of the web designer, and find another website with similar content, because it's hard to not recognize 9%(I think) of people use Firefox. Kind of like the way black people didn't go to Denny's for awhile after that racist incident in one of their restaurants. It's few and far between, but sites like Foxsports.com which is powered by MSN (Microsoft, makers of IE) doesn't let me play videos, so I went to CNNSI.com. Problem solved. I scoff when it says "must have Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher". How dare they. They need to adjust to what I'm doing (and apparently millions of others).

I really think Firefox is exceptional. Microsoft got sloppy and complacent and is now playing catchup because Firefox has gained so much traction in the past two years. I've been using it daily for over a year:
- on work PCs running Windows XP (I use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer 6)
- on my personal laptop running Mac OS X (I like Firfox better than Apple's Safari browser)
There are a few instances of proprietary online applications that run only on Internet Explorer (typically because they're dependant on Active X).
I haven't had problems with Firefox running slowly. Keep in mind if you install lots of pluggins or complex themes, that can impact your performance.
I've also tried Opera, but find Firefox better than Opera.
Good luck!

I started using FireFox due to difficulties I was having with IE. At first, it seemed great, but the more I used it, the less I liked it. All too often, sites would not display properly, whereas they would in IE. Now, it's gotten to the point where I can't go to MSNBC.com without crashing FireFox. Some sites' forms don't work as intended in FireFox either. I'm still using it on my laptop but thinking of going back to IE. At work, I use IE and it's great.

I have used Firefox on my Mac and on my PC. I no longer use it because I did not like using it all. I went back to using IE on my PC and using Safari on my Mac. I just did not like the way Firefox worked.

i find that FireFox is fast, reliable and far far better than Internet Explorer.
For a start IE is just boring whereas FF is orange (the best colour ever).
But importantly FF is much more secure, you don't get any popups, it has alsorts of useful addons like tabs etc. and is just generaly easier to use.
If you don't like what firefox looks like you can download different skins, and there are hundreds to choose from so there must be one that would please anyone.
