I personally enjoy wearing briefs when I'm in my formals as psychologically it will mean that I'm not covered in layers and layers of clothing.

Sometimes when wearing boxerbriefs I can see the ring that goes around my leg. It's not overly visible unless the pants are thin. Even if it is visible, it's not a crime. Silk boxers would be really light and airy and thin, so they wouldn't do that. I guess if I had to wear a tuxedo, I'd spring for a pair of briefs, even though I never wear them.

Well, unless your briefs show no line in back or when you bend over that's fine, but it's better to wear boxers because they give a cleaner look.

In a tuxedo, Id say briefs... but have you tried boxer briefs?
