I am trying to find an email that I trashed some months ago. Do you keep a file of trashed emails or are they deleted?

Nick's answer is correct. In addition, be aware that if you have compacted folders (even once) since deleting the msg, that will not work. If you use Incredimail or Outlook Express there are programs you can buy & download (about $35) that will undelete messages from those programs - again, as long as the folders have not been compacted.
If you are using any web based email program deleted messages are not recoverable once the Trash folder has been emptied.

As you delete a message, they go into the Trash Folder and if you've deleted them from that folder as well, then, I'm sorry there's no way out

If you use outlook, you can click on the deleted items folder, then go to tools, Recover deleted items, and then find your message. If you use a web based email program, you are out of luck.

look in your trash. It should still be there unless you emptied it or the email provider deleted it.

That email will be deleted after one month.

Go to your panel control and then click on programs and get the e-mail you trashed this should work.

if you haven't deleted your email's trash bin, it should still be there. you just have to scroll through your trash bin.

If you haven't gotten rid of you deleted mail it should be in that folder. If you have it is gone for good.

If it was deleted from a webmail account then you won't be able to retrieve it.
