Good question. Those are the two most famous game mascots, and both of their games (especially the classics) are simply phenomenal to play.
I'd however pick Super Mario. While Sonic definitely is fast-paced and "cooler", the game design for Sonic games takes a while to get used to, especially for people who don't play video games often.
Mario, however, is accessible to everyone, and simple to understand. There's a certain nostalgic value about Super Mario that Sonic does not have in that sense.

Super Mario, I have played it more frequently. Plus Sonic The Hedgehog bounces around too much, you can't keep up with him!

Mario every time for me. I always thought Sonic was big when he started because of the speed but Mario will always win on gameplay!

Sonic without a doubt, do u know i havent played it in years, and i still want to run around the circle thing to collect all the rings, and go under ground!!!!! i think u can get a game pad in argos with just the sonic game on it i think im going to buy it, u can also get it in pac man etc etc

Hello £1 a bag,
Like you, I've got to hand it to the blue blur for this one. My reason why is that you can get hit and not die as long as you have a ring which allows you to play longer. The boss battles are more enjoyable rather than jumping over a koopa every time. Better graphics and more controls that just makes it a good game! Don't get me wrong Mario is a great game, but I would rather play somthing faster. Thanks for the great question and hope this answers it! Best wishes to you and all gamers alike! ^-^
