Our bodies were never intended to eat this stuff....Sugar is totally devoid of any vitamins or minerals. It is a "dead" food.
Processed sugar is quickly aborbed by the body causing the pancreas to give out a large amount of insulin...too much insulin causes your blood surgar to drop way down...that's why you feel weak and tired.
Consider that in 1895 the average American consumed 3 to 4 pounds of sugar per year and diabetes was a rare disease. Today we consume large amounts of surgar and diabetes is everywhere.

Nancy Appleton, Ph.D says
Sugar can cause a decrease in your insulin sensitivity thereby causing an abnormally high insulin levels and eventually diabetes.

Why do you think sugar is not good for you? Where did you get that information? Why don't you eat sweets?

My answer is not going to help you if you think you need to maintain a size 1/2. From your question I assume you think you are very fit and healthy. First, if you get weaker from using a sugar substitute then your body is not getting the caloric intact it requires to begin with. Second, as you age the lack of proper nutrients and body fat will lead to problems like osteoporosis, loss of skin elasticity, hormone imbalances, malnutrition, delayed wound healing. So go ahead and diet. Feel weak. Stay skinny.
There is nothing wrong with sugar intake as long as it is in moderation with exercise.

I am not going to give you a proper answer because I don't believe that you would listen to reason. You seem to have formed an opinion about sugar based on the nutrition/exercise/medical scam that has plagued American society.
Sugar doesn't strain "the pancreas, the organ that produces insulin." That's a cup of bs. Glucose is not converted into calories either. These other clowns have no clue on what they are talking about and get there information from the drive by media and hippies who can predict the end of the world.

How about enjoying the simple things in life like a cup of hot tea with regular sugar in it and leave it at that.

If you only use it for your tea, I wouldn't worry about it being unhealthy. Anything is alright in moderation. The problem with sugar is that it is high in calories with no retun in nutritional value, but a teaspoon here and there is fine. I saw someone suggest honey, which is also ok, but you should use honey made in your local area. Using local honey will help reduce any hayfever, etc you might have because the pollens used to make it are the same ones floating in your air. If you have no allergies, you might as well just stick with your regular sugar.

Sugar is glucose, and glucose in the body gets turned into fat or calories which build up--especially since nearly everything has sugar in it that we intake. My suggestion would be to try Splenda--it is a no calorie sweetener extracted from sugar, so it tastes like sugar (not like those other sweeteners with the funny taste like Equal and Nutrisweet).

The body is not made to process large amounts of sugar, it strains the pancreas, the insulin producing organ, and gives you mood swings. Eat foods that break down slowly into sugar, giving you long term energy and even moods, like whole grains.

white sugar is stripped of all or any of the natural nutrients that raw sugar may have and give us. stripping also make sugar burn faster and accounts for that feeling of a fast high and a down low after. you don't seem to take in enough sugar of any kind to create a problem. of course you can easily switch to stevia or raw cane sugar. is it possible it is the tea...the certain caffeine that tea contains or the tannins. these create problems of their own in people..that other forms of caffeine or tannin may not.
