Why do you need SSI? Are you disabled? You can look at the SSA website & see if you can find the info you need.

I don't know which state you live in but I am pretty sure all states have an online information site. Call the ss office and ask the website.

you become a payee when you have minor children or someone that can not manage there own money or if you receive it for yourself and of age.
