Really his only "powers" are a healing factor, alcoholism, a bad attitude toward the world, and the ability to smoke a cigar. Come on, the character can't even comb his hair.
All he does is drink and pick fights. That's not a super power, that's a cry for help.

Dom. If you were old enough to remember back when Magneto pulled all the aduminium (however you spell it) out of Wolverine, he still had "bone" claws. So it wasn't the government that installed them in them as far as I know. I'd have to do more research. But since I don't really care that much (and i'm too lazy) i'm not going to do it.

I think Gambit is way better. If it wasn't for the fact that the Military installed the razor claws in Wolverine his only power would be that he can heal fast. Gambit is GOD.

Granted the ol canukle-head is not THE fav of mine he does have a lot more than a healing factor and claws. Enhanced senses and strength are some but the character has a sense of honor and compassion. Wolvie of old use to be a killer like Sabertooth and most of it due to his mind being played with, however, over the years hes learn restraint even at his most feralness. The alcohol and cigar doesnt mean anything considering the fact it cant hurt him and even in the comic now hes back away from doing things due to the influence of newer x-men. As for appearence her has that animalistic charm about him which goes to show that he doesnt have to follow the stereotype of looking pretty to get women . The man is over 60 years.

Like Fake said, he has superior senses (especially smell), healing, slow aging, and his adamantium skeleton and claws. He did have the bone claws when the adamantium was pulled out of him and an even more robust healing factor once it didn't have to deal with adamantium poisoning. I think it's not a matter of not combing his hair, it just grows naturally that way.

I think the attitude and the drinking comes from the bitterness he feels from being used as a lab rat experiment! I would be bitter too if the people that I trusted and fought for lied to me about what their real intentions were for me. Although he has a bad temper, I think he is a superhero because he do save people and don't fight for evil causes.

actually I think post HoM it might be a little more effective, probably not though, and yeah I like these methods. I think I know why the sensation is different though, or at least I have a version that makes sense to me

I still say corrosive acid will end him dump him in a tank or pour it on him and it's over. it's just leavethe Skeleton as shown inthe animated series.

as if the wolverine, wolverine: origins and various other titles aren't enough - they still have to give us a giant-sized one. gah!

Well, the Giant Sized issues are really supplements to the main series so I don't actually mind this so much. I'm not buying it anyway. :) I never understood the purpose of having both Giant Sized and Annuals for the same series, but whatever.

The power of marketing and cheap character revivals would stop that plan cold. A+ for effort though.

if this isn't enough evidence , then i don't know what is. they should start putting that much energy into other character's in the xtitles and stop pushing wolverine down our throat's. they want to see other Xmen character's be developed more. he's becoming too annoying for the rest ofther other fan's that don't just take thing's by marvel as the gosspel. let ther other's shine more and stop the over shadowing with wolverine already bahhhhh. ok I'm done.

Because his character doesn't fit the 'I must protect everyone because I'm superhero' mold. That is what appeals to audiences. Society loves to be able to point out a flaw in someone who is supposed to be perfect. So naturally, a character like wolverine is interesting and shows that he has many dimensions.

haha interesting observation, I agree. He is pretty important to the X-MEN series though. I thik a lt of comic characters are overrated for todays society but noone has made a good new one sooooo I can't be picky

wolverine is absolutely great !!! he maybe has all those abilities of smoking and all the others u said . u forgot that he has the animal mutation allowing him to catch smells in the air , the super strength and also the healing factor plus his claws and skeleton ( oh, he s also aging really slowly) . i think he s one of the strongest super heroes in marvel universe and he is also really cool because of his anti-heroic character and looks (i m talking for the original short and ugly wolverine). he s one of my favorites !!!

I really like his unique character....he is the only character i find being between the bad and good in his attitude.

He might be but that might be why i like him. Plus if you read "Origin" you see he was originally a pansy and it is the fact that he went from frail, docile boy to scruffy, world hating drinker....
Plus you forgot his enjoyment of killing. That has to be a power in and of itself.
