can any 1 tell me the up comming trend of programming language of choice for the next 10 years or so?

I think the majorty will work in any of these : Visual Basic, C#, Java or PHP.

I think people is going to stick with their language of choice. I see more chances of change on IDE(Integrated Development Environments) or enhancements on the above languages ( to be close to other fancy languages like Ruby).

C++ programmers will probably stick with the language, but they're going to be few in comparison with the big masses that use the other languages.

Ruby is a hot language, and Ruby on Rails is the best web development environment today. It's growing fast.

- C for systems programming;
- C/C++/Java for embedded;
All others will still be alive: e.g. Fortran lives for more than 30 years!
