My son did this, keep an eye on it, he could really hurt himself. My son has Asperger's a high-functioning form of Autism. There a plenty of kids who head bang who DO NOT have autism but I'd bring your concerns to your ped and pick him up and re-direct when he starts banging. All the best.

My 15mth old does the same thing he throws his head back & normally hits it on the floor or where ever else.I just tell him to stop & i walk away.Once he knows he can not have his way he is fine.Sometimes i will just give him something else to entertain him when he can't have what he wants.Something besides a toy.A box or a measuring cup or something new that he can check out.It keeps him busy long enough to forget about why he was mad in the first place. As long as he is not getting hurt he will be fine.Don't give in to what he wants, just because he is throwing a fit.All kids throw fits.Even my 5yr old who i thought was over it for a few years grew back into it.You can also lay him on a bed when he starts his fit,so he won't hurt his self.I walk away & ignore him when i know he really is'nt hurt, this lets him get it out & he gets over alot faster than if i stay trying to calm him down.Hope this helps!!!

could be temper tantrum or could be something more serious. Next time you are in for a well baby check talk to your doctor or if you are really concerned call the doctor. Some kids bump their heads to soothe themselves but better be safe than sorry, talk to your doctor.
When he does this you could put him in his bed, well padded of course. He might get the picture that if he does this behavior he will be removed from all activity. Behavior reinforcement kind of thing. Unless he stands up and bangs his head on the crib.

Sounds like a tantrum to me - I would probably take him to the Dr to reassure yourself that there is nothing wrong - if he does it too often or very hard you could consider getting him one of those foam helmet things to stop him hurting himself

hold him and comfort him when he is mad or when you tell him no hold him in your arms and tell him but do not put him down until he is over being mad and it will add a sence of security to the child which he could be missing

That is just his age. My son did that stuff at that age as well. They grow out of it quite quick. Now he just throws his tantrems. Tells me no a lot as well.

guess your son will be rocker someday...his very energetic. Just monitor him everyday in that way he will not get hurt..also tell your doctor about it for consultation anyway.

unfortunately you need to ignore him, he'll see he doesn't get your attention with it anymore and eventually he will stop, however i would let his dr. know he's doing it just in case he ever has marks.

sounds like attention seeking to me. Don't try to respond to it too much.
