They have to get past Oakland first & that wont be easy.
In case you haven't noticed, there are several steps before the big dance these days. The next step is what baseball fans call "The American League Championship Series" or ALCS for short.
The ALCS is a best of seven format. It works like this:
Oakland has the first 2 games at home (because they won thier division, and The Tigers are the wild card).
Then they are 3 games at Comerica Park, you know know where Comerica Park is dont you? I'll give you a clue..it is NOT in ann arbor!!!!
Then, if needed, games 6 & 7 are back in Oakland.
Now IF they beat Oakland (and it wont be easy) then YES we will clobber whomever we play in the World Series.
I hope we play St. Louis, but if we play the mets it will be so much fun to clobber them worse then what we did the yankees!

No, I don't think they can.
The Tigers are likely to suffer a letdown after beating the Yankees. After a couple of days of "poor us, nobody respects us", they need to realize that they've got another series to play...meanwhile, the A's are ready for them.
Also, a bunch of Tigers are now going around saying that they were 'motivated because a lot of people didn't think they could win against the Yankees'...
Hey, you idiots on the Tigers... isn't a chance to win a championship enough motivation for you? Why do you care if "other people" don't think you can win? Even though here's a reason they think that, namely, because none of you ever HAVE won anything... and you STILL haven't!
I can't stand when professional athletes come up with these phony motivations for winning... an athlete's goal should always be to win a championship... I felt the same way about my Steelers last year... this "win one for Jerome Bettis" was a bunch of crap...you're goal should be to win a championship, period...regardless of who's retiring, and regardless of whether or not "a lot of people" think you can win it all. Apparently, the Steelers weren't motivated to win it all in previous years, because they knew Jerome Bettis was coming back the next year... B.S. Your goal should be to win it all...period.
It's going to be really, really tough to beat the A's, but the Tigers are peaking right now, after totally collapsing at the end of the season... it'll be interesting, but I don't think they'll win the ALCS.
And of course, don't buy into what will be one of ESPN's storylines about the ALCS...namely, that it's a 'rematch' of the 1972 ALCS between these same two teams... most of these guys on both teams obviously weren't even alive in 1972.
Good luck to the Tigers and to the A's... it's been a while since either of them have been to the World Series..

I counted the Tigers out and had them getting swept, but they proved that they meant business. They are probably a good bet for the World Series now, but I think the A's will take them to 7 games. I was way wrong about the Tigers, and now I see just what a good team they are. I am going to be pulling for them in the ALCS, because they had a great year and even though they knocked out my Sox, I respect them. If they do make it to the World Series, I'll root for NL (unless its the Padres, I dont like them).
