Chances are that your baby will be short too. Genetically, it is possible that it would not be. If you have parents or grandparents that are tall, then the baby could be tall. Being short myself, I can say its not that big of a deal as you two cuold probably attest to. The baby can be tall though.

There's a good chance of the baby being small. Now and then you can get a recessive gene, a throw-back from an ancestor kicking in, so it never hurts to see if grandparents etc. are tall. It sounds like you're excited about the baby. Good luck!

You never know...depends if there is any height in the rest of your family. I am 5'9" and my husband is 5'7". There is a lot of height in my family, but not my husband's.

One rule of thumb is to double the child's height at age 2. So, for example, my son was 36" at his 2 year check-up, so he'll probably be about 6 feet tall.

So at least by the time your baby is 2, you will have a good idea of what his/her height will be as an adult.

it depends on what you mean as short! short as in dwarfs or just under the average height. my friend and her husband are both short but there son is in clothes 2 sizes above his age, so i would say 50/50. don`t let the answer`s put you off of having a baby though good luck.

I am 5'2 and my husband 5'8 and we were told my son would be about 5'4 and slight, he is a very robust young man of 5'7 an looks great do not worry. Sometimes genetics sets in as my daughter is 5'7 at 16 where does that come from, my fathers side I think all 6 footers.

The height of a child is normally inherited but not necessarily from the parents. If you have tall parents, grandparents your children may inherit their height. My mum is 5ft 3, my dad 5ft 9 (not so tall for a man). Myself and my sisters are all 5ft 7. My partners (who is 5ft 9) grandad is 6ft 5 and our two year old is definitly taking after him. She is only two and even towers over 3 and 4 year olds!

IT IS A 50-50 CHANCE IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW THE STRONG THE SHORT GENE IS!!!! SOME PEOPLE THE GENE SKIPS OVER THE CHILD AND THE CHILD WILL BE NORMAL HEIGTH AND THERE ARE FAMILIES THAT THE GENE IS REALLY REALLY STRONG AND THE CHILD WILL BE SHORT!!! IT IS NOT A SILLY QUESTION!! AND GOOD LUCK
