It's like a big Monty Python animation: the head is on a single hinge - the more you open the mind, the more it draws the mouth closed. The more you open the mouth, the more it pulls the mind closed. The more closed the mind, the more certain the person is that they are right, and therefore the more free they feel to open their mouths. The more open the mind, the less certain the person becomes of anything in terms of black and white, so they close their mouths and listen...which of course only exacerbates the situation, as the more you listen, the more open your mind becomes...

I could probably give an answer to this really good question if I knew open minded people always have closed mouths.

Nature gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth. Maybe we should listen twice as much as we speak.

Closed minded people have many fears.
They fear people of religions they don't understand, they fear people of races they don't belong to, they fear people whose sexuality they don't share, they fear people in different economic status, etc. When a person feels that fearful, one begins to "whistle in the graveyard'. They talk loud and opinionated in an attempt to convince others around them that they are correct (read safe)

That's an brilliant observation. I think the answer might be one of two (2) things: Either they have an over-inflated sense of self and find it easy to talk about things that they know nothing about OR they are so insecure that they have to talk and talk and talk to make themselves feel adequate.

My opinion is that often people who offer their opinions forcefully and often are showing everyone that they have personal confidence issues and most likely a lack of education and experience in life.
