Did the October 6, 2006 season premiere incorporate a commentary on U.S. policy toward:
a. U.S. war on terrorism?
b. U.S. occupation in Afghanistan and in Iraq?
c. dilemmas concerning love, honor and duty for U.S. population?
d. insert your observation, please.
Please be respectful in your answers. I am only looking for the possible insertion of political commentary into the show seen from an intellectual level. I do not care to read your personal and political rants and raves.
Thank you.

There are clear parallels to all those topics you mentioned...and more, which is just good story telling and keeping the show relevant to current events & times. Also don't forget about the very strong theme of what constitutes a *terrorist*? Is one man's terrorist another man's freedom fighter. My personal favorite is the question of who's side god is on, the humans or the Cylons? Another iss is that of diversity of opinion within both camps, human and Cylon. IOW, nothing is absolute, not evil or good.

While this may appear to some to be a tacit form of protest, I consider it more valuable to the human condition to look at the world from different points of view. It would have been very easy for sci-fi to produce a pro-war, hooray for the warrior episode. Also very boring.

It is natural for people to find connections and patterns between events, even when the events aren't otherwise related. Also, good dramas often include contemporary issues, regardless of whether they are specificially commenting on them in actuality, snice that will help draw-in and involve the audience.

So my point is that while I also saw the similarities too, I'd be careful about jumping to the conclusion that the purpose of the topic was actually to comment on current world politics.
