It's the ultimate in the service culture ethos. Clean, bright, professional.

"Hello my name is Marty and I'll be your executioner today. Before the termination process begins, we'd like to distract you from your impending meeting with the screaming void of non-existence by following a healthy and highly clinical procedure, very much like the one you undergo when you're going in for surgery. This helps us not feel like we're actually killing you but giving you a life-altering operation, and the alcohol swab helps make sure that the sentence of the court, that you be exterminated by lethal injection, is carried out correctly. Rest assured, all our Personal Life-Makeover Technicians are fully trained to ensure that it is the poison in the syringe, and not some nasty last-minute infection, that gets you. This also means your family won't have a leg to stand on if they try to sue us, because we did our job thoroughly and professionally...
Now, count backwards from 10..."

ALL NEEDLES ARE MADE STERALIZED. There is no unsteralized needle. That wouldn't make sense to develop a new process so that needles for lethal injections aren't steralized.

It's just a medical protocol and most likely the supplies are prepackaged and come sterile, I can't imagine that they do so many they have to sterilize them at the prison and just about everything they need comes in a plastic kit.

I think they might sterilize it. If they would use a dirty needle, some bleeding heart group would cry that it was unusual punishment or cruelty. We must at all costs protect the poor innocent criminal from harm.

I'd say they would want to maintain the image of humanity to the end, even if they are eradicating a life on death row.. I know a lot of things when you look at them more closely are so hypocritical..

It's a real conundrum! But at least they don't send your family a bill for the bullet they dispatched you with - like they do in some countries.
