It was reported the other day, that in Melbourne over 300 complaints against Muslim Taxi Drivers have been received. It appears they are refusing people who have Alcohol (unopened) and guide dogs entry into their taxis. This is pure discrimination as we are in Australia not the Middle East and Taxi licences do not allow discrimination. These people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law by the Licencing branch and the Anti Discrimination Commission, the same as any one else of any religion or ethnic background who practices discrimination.

If they are not obeying local ordinances concerning taking passengers, then they should be disciplined. In the US, a taxi driver can refuse to pick up any fare that he deems is dangerous, but I hardly think that a disabled person with a guide dog is dangerous, or that a person with unopened containers is dangerous. I agree with you.

It is against their religion to touch dogs and consume alcohol. They also cannot touch or consume pork so very likely pork will be disallowed on their taxi as well. It would be ideal if the world has no religions. But practically, we have to live with religions.
Taxi drivers are allowed to refuse customers but if % complaints (300 complaints vs total complaints) is high % and affecting business, the taxi associations will have to talk to their taxi drivers and ask them to consider getting another job if they continue. There are Muslim taxi driver who are more liberal or more concerned about earning a living than customers you bring into their taxis.
